Yad Vashem is Israel's official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. For the first time the memorial will honour Muslims who saved the lives of Jews during World War II:

"For the first time, Yad Vashem will inaugurate an exhibition this week on Muslims who saved Jews during the Holocaust.

The exhibition, which opens on Thursday, focuses on more than a dozen of the scores of Muslim Albanians previously recognized as "Righteous Among the Nations" - the Holocaust center's highest honor - for risking their lives to save Jews during World War II...

..Before World War II, only about 200 Jews lived in Albania. After Hitler's rise to power in 1933, hundreds of Jews fleeing the Nazis crossed the border from Yugoslavia, Germany, Greece, Austria and Serbia.

When the Germans occupied Albania in 1943, the Albanian population refused to comply with the Nazis' orders to turn over lists of Jews residing in the country.

The lifesaving assistance the Jews received in the predominantly Muslim country was based on Besa, a code of honor which literally means "to keep the promise." Nearly all the Jews living within Albanian borders during the German occupation were saved; in fact, there were more Jews in Albania at the end of the war than before it started, Yad Vashem said.

"The extraordinary story of Albania, where an entire nation, both the government and the population, acted to rescue Jews is truly remarkable," said exhibition curator Yehudit Shendar. "Many, if not all, were heavily influenced in their choice by Islam... This very human story, told through these sensitive portraits, combine to highlight a little-known but remarkable aspect of the Holocaust."

"This is a story that has rarely been publicized," said Holocaust survivor Ya'acov Altarat, 74, from Tel Aviv, who escaped to Albania with his parents as a boy of eight in 1941 and found refuge there for the duration of the war. " (Source: Jerusalem Post)

Nick Griffin the leader of the British National Party was invited to speak at the Michigan State University last Friday. The event was organised by the Michigan chapter of Young Americans for Freedom.

The speech "accidentally" coincided with David Horowitz's Islamofascism Awarness Week. Unbeknown to many Americans Nick Griffin is a convicted race hate inciter and his party openly avows racist and homophobic ideas:

"At Michigan State University Friday, Nick Griffin, the leader of the British National Party who was convicted in 1998 for incitement of racial hatred over material denying the Holocaust, was brought to campus for a speech denouncing Islam. Griffin acknowledges having been a Holocaust denier, but says he no longer is one. His party is on record opposing black-white marriages, believing that black people are less intelligent than white people, and saying that ethnic minorities....

The whole incident at Michigan State made me ponder, what does Nick Griffin and his party really say about Muslims and Islam. This lead me to the BNP website and to the policies in their 2005 manifesto, the year that they fought the last general election in the United Kingdom :

The implication of the final statement from the BNP 2005 manifesto is quite clear. The BNP supports the right of the Islamic world to resist any attempt to democratise or westernise the Middle East.

In blunt terms that means the party supports "Islamofascism", Islamic law and all that entails for the Muslims of the Middle East. Proof positive for anyone if they needed it that Christian fascists do support Islamic Sharia.

What is the probability that Nick Griffin was publicising this aspect of his support for the Muslims of the Middle East in his speech at Michigan State ?

Shahid Malik is a member of the British Labour party, a member of the British Parliament and is also a the British minister responsible for international development.

On a recent trip to the United States Shahid Malik went to hold talks with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security over issues of national security and terrorism.

While on his way back to the United Kingdom Shahid Malik was detained at Dellus airport and treated like an Islamofascist:

"Britain's first Muslim minister was detained at a US airport for almost an hour on his way back from attending talks on tackling terrorism.

Shahid Malik, the International Development Minister and MP for Dewsbury, was "deeply disappointed" to be taken aside at Dulles Airport in Washington DC yesterday morning.

Officials from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the same department whose representatives Mr Malik had been meeting, analysed his luggage for traces of explosive materials.

"After a few minutes a couple of other people were also taken to one side," Mr Malik said. "We were all Muslims - the other two were black Muslims, both with Muslim names." (Source: Daily Telegraph)

I suppose the U.S. Department of Homeland Security wants American Senators and Congress representatives treated in the same manner when they travel out of the United States, or may be not.

On Friday 24 October I wrote a post entitled "Islamonazi Loving Laura Bush Sells Her Soul To Satan". In the article the reader was confronted with a picture of Laura Bush wearing an Islamic head scarf on a recent visit to Saudi Arabia.

As a result of that post one of my esteemed readers James Shott of James H. Shott's Observations fame questioned via the comments section here whether most Americans care what Laura Bush wears, he said:

Donald Rumsfeld is a man who polarises opinions to the extreme. Either love or hate him there is one thing that you can say about him and that is he cannot be ignored.

Many ill guided people have tried to tarnish his image and place in history over decisions he took as U.S. Defense Secretary during George W. Bush's administration. The enemies of freedom cite his hypotheses on war more commonly known as the Rumsfled doctrine, the invasion of Iraq and prisoner abuse as proof positive that Donald Rumsfeld is an evil man.

The truth of the matter is that for all that the detractors have to say about Donald Rumsfled, he did what he did and said what said because he loved freedom and wanted the whole of mankind to experience the freedom and liberty that Americans experience on a daily basis.

In reward for all of Donald Rumsfled's good intentions, words and actions in the pursuit of democracy and freedom his detractors are now trying to get him prosecuted for torture.

During a recent trip to France members of the U.S. based Center for Constitutional Rights slapped a criminal complaint charging the freedom loving patriot Donald Rumsfeld with torture:

"Former US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld's jaunt to France was interrupted today by an unscheduled itinerary item -- he was slapped with a criminal complaint charging him with torture.

Rumsfeld, in Paris for a discussion sponsored by the magazine Foreign Policy, was tracked down by representatives of a coalition of international human rights groups, who informed the architect of the US invasion of Iraq that they had submitted a torture suit against him in French court.

The filed documents allege that during his tenure, the former defense secretary "ordered and authorized" torture of detainees at both the American-run Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and the US military's detainment facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The head of one of the groups responsible for bringing the charges, the US-based Center for Constitutional Rights, told RAW STORY today by phone that the suit was a long time coming.....

....Joined by activists, attorneys for the human rights groups caught up with Rumsfeld on his way to a breakfast meeting. "He was walking down the street with just one person," said Ratner.

"Around 20 campaigners gave Rumsfeld a rowdy welcome...yelling 'murderer,' waving a banner and trying to push into the building," reports AFP.

Ratner, who wasn't personally at the scene, says his sources told him that the former defense secretary made some pre-scheduled remarks at the meeting before ducking through a door leading to the US Embassy.

It looks like the controversy over the Danish cartoons that made a "less than flattering" pictorial representation of the Prophet of Islam is still doing the rounds.

After the world was exposed to the original cartoons and the subsequent violence caused by Muslim demonstrators from all corners of the globe we now have a far-right Danish People's party using the cartoons as election material for a forth coming general election:

"A Danish political party is using a drawing of the prophet Muhammad on election material, in a move described as a "provocation" by at least one local Muslim organisation.

The far-right Danish People's party today unveiled an election advertisement showing a hand-drawn picture of the Islamic prophet under the slogan "Freedom of speech is Danish, censorship is not", followed by the words "We defend Danish values"....

...The DPP is the third-largest political force in Denmark. It is a key parliamentary ally for the centre-right, minority government of Mr Fogh Rasmussen....

..."[The ad] is a part of an election campaign centring on Danish values, which we want to push forward," the DPP leader, Pia Kjaersgaard, told the newspaper Nyhedsavisen. "Among them are gender equality and solidarity. The ad clearly falls under the issue of freedom of expression." (Source: The Guardian)

They say that every dark cloud has a sliver lining and that happens to be with the case also regarding the Danish cartoons at least for one Saudi company.

Since their publication in 2005 and the subsequent boycott in the Muslim world of Danish produced goods some Saudis came to the realisation that the Danish company Novo Nordisk is the largest supplier of insulin to the Muslim world. Now a private Saudi company is trying to break the dominance of Novo Nordisk:

"Two years back, the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten published 12 controversial cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed that led to a mass boycott of Danish products by Muslims in almost all Islamic countries.

The boycott, however, had opened the eyes of many Muslims to a new bitter reality: The major human insulin supplier to the Muslim world is a Danish company.

Two years later, a Saudi private company is trying to break the dominance of the Danish insulin maker, Novo Nordisk, over the Muslim country by introducing locally produced insulin....

...The board of the Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank (IDB) agreed to finance a Saudi insulin manufacturing plant that is to be built jointly with leading Brazilian biotechnology firm Biomm, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Saturday.

The IDB will provide 37.5 million Saudi riyals ($10 million) for the purpose of establishing the 207 million riyal ($55 million) plant, to be located in the Bahrah area 30 kilometres south of Jeddah.

SPA did not reveal the name of the Saudi company setting up the plant.

The plant is expected to use the Brazilian biotechnology to produce 400 kilograms of genetically purified insulin crystals annually. The Saudi company said that it will use part of the insulin crystals to produce local insulin phials to meet the local demand while the rest of the crystals will be exported as raw material....

....The world market for insulin is dominated by two players, US firm Eli Lily and Novo Nordisk, the world's biggest insulin maker. These two companies command about 80% of the world market.

Both companies have been subject to boycotts in Islamic countries. Novo Nordisk was hurt by Muslims’ reaction to cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed, while Lily faced difficulties in Egypt due to its support of Israel.

"There is always a substitute to any kind of medication, but when it comes to human insulin it is difficult to substitute for Novo Nordisk's insulin," said Mohammed Ahmad, an Egyptian pharmacy owner who was working as a pharmacist in Saudi Arabia during the Danish boycott." American patriot Kia Reid has been sentenced by a court in Philadelphia to 8 months in a half way house. Courageous Reid struck international fame when she was charged with sending her Muslim boss hate mail. The written threats included the following:

"Remember 9-1-1, you and your children will die like dogs,"
"There were references to dying in the dirt, like dogs and hanging and many other references to death,"

Due to these threats American patriot Kia Reid was charged and found guilty of hate crimes:

"A Philadelphia hotel supervisor who sent a threatening note to her Arab-American boss, citing the Sept. 11 terror attacks, was sentenced today to eight months in a halfway house.

It was a rare case of a federal prosecution of a hate crime, and the U.S. Justice Department had sought the maximum penalty: a year-long prison sentence for the misdemeanor charge, for which the woman, Kia Reid, had pleaded guilty.

Reid and her victim, former supervisor Nina Timani, faced each during the tear-filled three-hour hearing.

The anonymous note Reid sent to Timani last year at the Sheraton Suites Hotel said in part: "You and your kids will pay . . . Remember 9/11 Patriotism and anger along with desire for revenge."

Reid, a 35-year-old single mother of three with no prior criminal record, had worked at as a caterer at the hotel for nine years. Timani is Arab-American, a naturalized U.S. citizen who arrived in this country from Egypt in the mid-1960s.

Reid was charged after a coworker wearing an FBI wire recorded her talking about the crime.

U.S. District Judge Gene Pratter said the note's reference to children "almost takes one's breath away."

"This was a very serious crime," she said. "There is an incendiary quality to this."

"You might ask . . . why make a federal case of this?" the judge said. "Because our society cannot afford to dismiss this kind of conduct."

Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Gibson said that Reid deserved the maximum 12-month sentence because "there are just some things you do not do." Racism, he said, is contagious." (Source: Philly.com)

One of Israel's largest cable operators has dumped CNN the American news network for its Arab rival Al-Jazeera English. In a move that has concerned some in Israel Hot Television plans to broadcast Al-Jazeera English around the clock:

"It's about to lose the right to broadcast CNN in Israel, but the country's largest cable provider appears to have found a replacement: Al-Jazeera in English.

A contract with the controversial Gulf-based news network "should be finalized within a few days," a senior representative of HOT Television told The Jerusalem Post Monday. Should the deal be signed, it will put Al-Jazeera's English-language offshoot on the air around the time HOT drops CNN, said Yossi Lubaton, the company's vice president of marketing.

The announcement marks the latest programming shake-up by the cable provider, whose subscribers make up nearly two-thirds of Israel's cable and satellite audience. Both HOT and its main competitor, Yes Television, already offer Al-Jazeera in Arabic, and Yes added Al-Jazeera's English channel last year.

The removal of CNN and the addition of Al-Jazeera's English version both stemmed from financial considerations, Lubaton said, describing the changes as part of a cost-cutting campaign launched last year by HOT CEO David Kamenitz.

"It's an economic issue," Lubaton said. "Most of the internationally famous news channels - Sky News, the BBC and Fox - for all of them the cost is significantly lower than CNN. [The move] to introduce Al-Jazeera in English comes at a much lower cost than CNN."

....at least as it relates to the arrival of Al-Jazeera's English version, said Prof. Tamar Liebes, head of the Hebrew University's Communications Department.

"Even to think of it as a replacement is a joke," Liebes said, adding that few Israeli viewers would be inclined to "trust" the channel's coverage of international affairs. Al-Jazeera's Arabic network, which broadcast videotapes featuring Osama bin Laden soon after the September 11, 2001, attacks, has been criticized for what some call its anti-American and anti-Israel news coverage.

"It's incomprehensible," Liebes said. "Whatever functions CNN performed, none of them will be performed by Al-Jazeera. It's a whole different kind of person who will watch."

American Lisa Montgomery was found guilty of killing a pregnant woman and then stealing her unborn baby.

In what has been a most shocking case Lisa Montgomery so desperately wanted a child that she killed another women and then cut out her unborn fetus. Montgomery now faces the death penalty:

"Turning aside defense claims of insanity, a jury Monday convicted Lisa Montgomery of killing Bobbie Jo Stinnett to kidnap Stinnett’s unborn daughter and claim the girl as her own.

After about four hours of deliberation, the federal jury found Montgomery, 39, guilty of one count of kidnapping resulting in death.

The three-week-old trial now turns to the penalty phase, putting Montgomery’s life in the jurors’ hands. Hearings begin Wednesday, and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.....

...Closing arguments Monday painted two competing pictures of Montgomery.

The defense offered the image of a woman deeply scarred by repeated — though decades old — sexual abuse at the hands of a cruel, alcoholic stepfather. Montgomery, her attorneys argued, also suffered the delusional belief that she was pregnant, despite surgery in the mid-1990s that irreversibly rendered her incapable of such a feat.

"We have seen the unthinkable," defense attorney John P. O’Connor said of Stinnett’s murder. "It is natural to want to strike back."

But, he added, "it's hard to put our arms around mental illness, because we don’t understand it. … I'm not asking for sympathy. I want you to have empathy."

The government's position, however, better swayed the jury. Prosecutors presented Montgomery as a scheming, dishonest manipulator who used false pregnancies to gain advantage in her interpersonal relations.

Killing Stinnett, they argued, was an act of desperation spurred by the threats of Montgomery’s ex-husband to expose her repeated lies and use those deceptions to gain custody of their children. Montgomery had been telling friends and family, including her husband, that she was pregnant and due in December.

"The defense told you in opening statements that their case would tell you why," assistant U.S. attorney Roseann Ketchmark told the jurors. "The 'why' is that this defendant, Lisa Montgomery, did not want to be exposed."

To that end, the prosecution showed through Internet records how Montgomery visited Stinnett’s Web site and learned of her pregnancy in late 2004. She then proceeded to arrange a meeting with the 23-year-old Stinnett, a fellow rat terrier breeder, using a false online identity created days before the murder." (Source: Kansas City)

The 22nd of October 2007 saw U.S. college campuses witness the start of the "Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week". Here in their own words the project outlines the purpose behind the activities:

"The purpose of this protest is as simple as it is crucial: to confront the two Big Lies of the political left: that George Bush created the war on terror and that Global Warming is a greater danger to Americans than the terrorist threat. Nothing could be more politically incorrect than to point this out. But nothing could be more important for American students to hear. In the face of the greatest danger Americans have ever confronted, the academic left has mobilized to create sympathy for the enemy and to fight anyone who rallies Americans to defend themselves. According to the academic left, anyone who links Islamic radicalism to the war on terror is an "Islamophobe." According to the academic left, the Islamo-fascists hate us not because we are tolerant and free, but because we are "oppressors."

The week is the brain child of the controversial neo-conservative Mr.David Horowitz. In staging this awareness week Mr.Horowitz has not only upset the "usual suspects" the Muslims but also a group of Jews who view his "antics" with the up most disdain:

"We, the Progressive Jewish Alliance, repudiate the mission of David Horowitz’s "Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week." We reject the manner in which he manipulates Jewish grief over the Holocaust and the situation in Israel. As Jews and members of a larger campus coalition community, we speak out as allies of our fellow Muslim students.

Horowitz does not speak for us. Instead, he uses symbols and rhetoric which exploit Jewish communal memory and grief. He uses the fear brought about by the Holocaust as well as by terrorist attacks against our fellow Jews. He juxtaposes images of Nazi propaganda with current Islamic extremists. By associating these images with broad groups haphazardly labeled "Islamo-Fascist," Horowitz seeks to replace intellectual discussion with panic. Such malevolent tactics are of no service to the Jewish people; rather, they are an attempt to induce Jews into sacrificing their values for a world view of oversimplified fear.

Horowitz claims to support moderate Islam, but does nothing of the sort. Horowitz’s “Student’s Guide” features a petition "appeal" aimed at Muslim Student Associations across the country. This "appeal" is in fact a loyalty oath, in which Muslims are forced to choose between denouncing their entire religion as a danger to humanity and being branded as terrorist sympathizers. Such a narrow-minded approach does not aid moderates, but seeks to strand them between two radical and untenable positions.
Horowitz’s anti-Muslim week of action aims to create a dangerous and false dichotomy between "Judeo-Christian Civilization" and Islam, both on our campuses and in the world. Horowitz points to the atrocities of extremist regimes, which are driven by a range of historical, political, and economic factors, and claims such atrocities embody the essence of Islam. By this logic, geopolitical conflict can only be resolved with the end of Islam. Such a headstrong and stubborn conviction could only result in enflaming tensions, and provoking a New Crusade against Islam.

We refuse to lend our voice to those who attempt to parasitically draw on the support of the Jewish community. We are not fooled by pundits who co-opt progressive activists’ language and protest forms. Instead, we stand as allies with communities of faith and our fellow students. On the 9th of September 2007 I reported on the unbelievable case of Israeli Nazis attacking Jews and immigrants in the Jewish state:

"Israeli police have arrested eight suspected members of a neo-Nazi cell responsible for painting swastikas and assaulting religious Jews and foreign workers.

All eight are immigrants from the former Soviet Union, police said on Sunday...."

"Muslims are taking over the world and worse than that they are over here making us a minority in our own nations."

How many times have you heard that before ? Quite a few if you happen to be a Muslim or a paranoid anti-Islam bigot but is there any truth to the claim. According to Gordon Showell-Rogersm the General Secretary of the European Evangelical Alliance no:

"The General Secretary of the European Evangelical Alliance, Gordon Showell-Rogers, has reassured delegates at the EEA’s annual Assembly in Greece this week that Christians have nothing to fear from Islam in Europe.

In a powerful address on day two of the assembly, Showell-Rogers reminded Christians that Muslims in Europe still make up only a very small percentage of Europe’s population – around 4.5 per cent – and that while migration has brought in Muslims, it has also brought in large numbers of Christians to the continent.

Rather than being intimidated by Islam’s growth in Europe, Showell-Rogers encouraged delegates to see the evangelistic potential.

"Evangelicals have nothing at all to fear from any form of Islam. Christ is greater than even the greatest of world religions," he stated. “Instead of being afraid and 'demonising' people, we should see the presence of Muslim communities in Europe as a great evangelistic opportunity."

He went on to reaffirm the power of Jesus Christ to change Europe as well as the mandate of the European Evangelical Alliance to bring the Good News to those who still live without Christ.

"We need to help one another to rediscover our confidence in the radical and transforming power of the Good News of Jesus. God's eternal plans for the universe revolve around Jesus. He is not always popular, but He is the only hope for individuals and for society and for the planet." (Source: Christian Today)

This is a refreshing note to hear from a part of the western evangelical movement and goes against the usual tirade of "kill all the Islamonazi sand niggers".

P.S. How hard can it be to convert a load of neanderthal, knuckle dragging, camel jockeying, idol worshipping, 7th century smelling cavemen ? Therefore I think that by November 2008 the threat from Muslims in the west will have been neutralised as they will have all been converted to trinitarian Christianity and the world can wait for the Rapture to take place.

In this startling interview with the Times of London Major General Tim Cross describes at best the utter lack of planning, down right naivety and at worst a deliberately serious dereliction of duty that permeated Washington and London over post-invasion Iraq planning:

"In early March 2003, as Britain and America prepared to invade Iraq, a casually dressed Tony Blair unexpectedly walked into the room at 10 Downing Street where Major General Tim Cross had just briefed Alastair Campbell, Blair’s communications chief. Cross was Britain’s point man in Washington on postwar planning and he was not getting a "warm feeling" about it. Campbell was clearly uneasy. For the next half-hour Cross briefed Blair.

The heart of the matter was simple: postwar planning was completely incoherent. “The plan was, we do not need a plan,” said Cross last week....

...For Cross, the story of Iraq is one of a failure of leadership. Talking for the first time about this failure, he said: “We got it wrong. We underestimated the resources we would need to see the campaign through. We underestimated the amount of time we would need....

....The failure to plan was a failure across Whitehall – not just across Washington. There was no clearly accepted "end state", no consensus on what we wanted to achieve; nor was there a coherent and joined-up pan-governmental "campaign plan".

"Taking a democracy to war is pretty obviously a serious business and we didn't take it anywhere near seriously enough," said Cross, the most senior insider to talk on the record about the planning catastrophe.

...What frightened him was the Washington neoconservatives’ certainty that once the Americans and British arrived, Iraqi oil revenue would rebuild the country: "Too many people lost themselves in the luxury of political theory and forgot or chose to ignore the practical realities of what was actually going to happen on the ground, and that was at the heart of the planning blight.

"The cabal in Washington convinced themselves that they didn't need a plan because everything would be fine once Saddam Hussein was toppled . . . There were few dissenting voices; you either agreed with their paradigm or you were frozen out."

He added: "What they didn't seem to understand was that you cannot bring true democracy to these fragile places in less than a generation or two." (Source: The Times)

One would have thought that with all the material and intellectual resources at their disposal the allies would have been able to come up with a better re-construction plan than what they eventually did.

Oh dear it appears that the news from the Holy Land is not good. Zalman Shoval former Israeli ambassdor to the U.S. and now a member of Binyamin Netanyahu's right-wing Likud party made the startling admission that the Temple Mount is not a holy Jewish place to fore
