Former P.O.W, Vietnam veteran and now U.S. Republican Presidential candidate John McCain has been spouting off his personal opinions about Islam, Mormonism and politics in one of his latest interviews:

"GOP presidential candidate John McCain says America is better off with a Christian president and he doesn't want a Muslim in the Oval Office. "I admire the Islam. There's a lot of good principles in it," he said. "But I just have to say in all candor that since this nation was founded primarily on Christian principles, personally, I prefer someone who I know who has a solid grounding in my faith." In a wide-ranging interview about religion and faith with the Web site Beliefnet, McCain said he wouldn't "rule out under any circumstance" someone who wasn't Christian, but said, "I just feel that that's an important part of our qualifications to lead." I have to say that I agree with Senator McCain on this one, I think that it would highly inappropriate for a Muslim( a dirty murdering rag head member of the enemy) to be President of the United States. Having said that in all likelihood the prospect of a Muslim becoming President in a country that has never elected a black, Hispanic or women to the post in its entire history never mind a Muslim is non-existent.

If this is the case why would Senator McCain feel the need to pass comment on the matter ? Well maybe he is trying to garner votes from a constituency that hates Islam/Muslims and what better way than to stick a metaphorical knife into the back of a non-existent Muslim President of the United States ?

Manipulative tactics such as these are what have give politicians such a bad name in recent times. The days of pulling the wool over the eyes of all of the people all of the time have gone for politicians. But as Senator McCain has shown in this episode it is still possible to pull the wool over the eyes of some of the people some of the time.

Miles Cooper is a British terrorist who was sentenced to an indeterminate prison sentence for waging a bombing campaign against the British state:

"A primary school caretaker found guilty of carrying out a letter bomb campaign in which eight people were injured has been given an indeterminate sentence.

Miles Cooper, 27, from Cambridge, sent seven letter bombs to addresses in England and Wales earlier this year, five of which exploded.

Judge Julian Hall said Cooper must serve four years and 149 days before being eligible for parole.

He told Cooper: "You are a terrorist, there can be no mistake."

Cooper did not contest that he sent the letters but denied intending to cause injury.

He told Oxford Crown Court that he had been "concerned about the direction my country was heading in".

He said that his aim was "ultimately to highlight my cause" and denied charges related to the seven letter bombs sent in January and February....

...Judge Hall told Cooper he would have given him a determinate sentence of 10 years but ruled that he was a danger to the public and, as a result, handed him an indeterminate sentence.

"First and foremost you are a terrorist, let there be no mistake," the judge insisted.

"Anyone who tries through violence or threat of violence to change the political will is a terrorist and that is precisely what you did.

"Either what you did was rational, in which case it was evil, or it was irrational which, in my mind, makes it even more frightening."

After the sentence was handed out, Cooper's solicitor, Julian Richards, gave a statement on his behalf.

Mr Richards said Cooper "never sought to deny responsibility for sending these devices, he simply maintains that it was never his intention that the recipients should be caused serious harm." (Source: BBC News)

The Israeli Supreme Court has ordered the Jewish National Fund to start marketing land it owns to Israeli citizens of an Arab heritage.

The implication of this ruling is quite clear and its judgment has clear tones of anti-semitism. In ordering the JNF to sell land to Israeli Muslims the Israeli Supreme Court is in effect "cutting its own throat" and laying the foundation for the annihilation of the Jewish state.

I for one whole heatedly oppose any such moves, the land of Israel must be 100% for the Jewish people and the Jewish people alone:

"Israel's Supreme Court has told an organisation that helped Jews settle in Palestine that it must change its policy of refusing to market its lands to Arabs.

The court on Monday granted the Jewish National Fund (JNF), which is more than a century old, three months to change its policy of selling land only to Jews.

Israeli Arabs and rights groups had petitioned the court to order the JNF to sell land to Arabs, who make up 20 per cent of Israel's population.

"The JNF's policy could create a total separation between Arabs and Jews in where they live," said Auni Dana, a lawyer for one of the petitioners.

The case has highlighted what Arab-Israelis say are widespread disparities in the rights that Israel affords to Jews and Arabs with Israeli citizenship.

Supporters of the JNF argue that the organisation has collected money to purchase lands for Jews and therefore should be allowed to provide their services to Jews alone.

"The good Jews who donated money 60, 50, 40 years ago, and even today didn't do so to sell land to Arabs," Robert Aumann, an Israeli-American Nobel laureate who supports the JNF, told Israel Radio on Monday.

The court case dates back to 2004, when Arab citizens were barred from bidding on an Israeli government tender for housing in Carmiel, northern Israel.

Arab Israelis were excluded for the tender on the grounds that the land in Carmiel belonged to the JNF and was intended only for Jewish use....

...The JNF was founded in 1901 to buy plots in Palestine, which was then under the rule of the Ottoman empire.

The group owns about 13 per cent of Israel's land and calls itself "the caretaker of the land of Israel, on behalf of its owners - Jewish people everywhere."

To a large extent, land owned by the JNF defined the early borders of the Jewish state.

The common perception amongst a quite few in the western non-Muslim world is that when a Muslim is not trying to murder all the infidels in the world he spends the rest of his time beating seven bells out of his wife.

In order to push this stereotype anti-Islam bigots employ many tactics such quotes verses from the Islamic scriptures, news of a Muslim beating his wife etc. etc. as a way of proving the evil of Islam and Muslims.

The point of this post is not deny that some Muslims do indeed beat their wives it is however to expose the hypocrisy of those who wish to point the finger of accusation from a position of racial and moral superiority at Muslims while at the same time forgetting the position of spousal abuse in their own societies. A case of the pot calling the kettle black.

This report form the British daily The Sun reveals the fact that 4 million British woman suffer violence at the hands of their partners:

"FOUR million women are victims of domestic violence in Britain, says a shocking poll.

More than half are attacked on a regular basis — with ten per cent abused TWICE a week.....

...It suggests that 13 per cent of the 30million women in the UK are assaulted by their partners.

Punches to the body were the main way men inflict pain — accounting for more than 20 per cent of attacks.

Ten per cent of women were punched in the face. One in ten were kicked, nine per cent had been slapped with the back of a hand and eight per cent were struck with an object.

Around seven per cent have been throttled while others have been bitten or had their hair pulled....

...The worst examples included: An attempted electrocution as a woman lay in the bath; an attack with CS gas; and a beating with a baseball bat.

There was also a rape by a long-term partner — but the victim was too afraid to report it to the police.

And a young mum was head-butted and had her face rubbed violently on a carpet to inflict burns.

If one were to think that this problem is peculiar to Britain then "Islam And The West Videos" has a ABC news report which proves that not only is spousal abuse of epidemic proportions in Britain but this sad situation is mirrored in the United States.

Since leaving his job as the U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has been keeping a relatively low profile.
Recently Donald Rumsfeld one of the prime architects of operation Iraqi freedom is now back again in the public spotlight after accepting a new appointment at Stanford University:

"Staff and students are protesting at Stanford University after former US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld was appointed to a policy research centre.

He will join the Hoover Institution as a distinguished visiting fellow.

In an online petition, protesters described the decision as incompatible with Stanford's ethical values.....

...More than 2,200 people have so far signed the petition, which describes the appointment as "fundamentally incompatible with the ethical values of truthfulness, tolerance, disinterested enquiry, respect for national and international laws and care for the... lives of others to which Stanford is inalienably committed". I actually admire Donald Rumsfeld and feel quite sorry that he is being treated in such an inhumane manner. I particularly admire his now famous explanation of "the known knows and the unknown unknows." I wish him the best in his new job.

Zohreh Assemi is a 52 year old Iranian-American women who owns a fashion and nail salon in New York. She was recently physically attacked in what police are calling a "bias attack":

"The Muslim owner of a high-end nail and facial salon that caters to the likes of Jennifer Lopez was beaten and robbed yesterday in what Long Island cops called a bias attack.

The attack followed two weeks of phone calls in which Iranian-American Zohreh Assemi was called a "terrorist" and told to "get out of town," friends and family said.

She was opening her store in Locust Valley at around 6:30 a.m. when two men came out of a public bathroom and forced her inside the salon.

They smashed her hand with a hammer, sliced her with a boxcutter and kicked her before taking about $2,000 in cash and scrawling anti-Muslim slurs on her mirrors, sources said." (Source: New York Post)

What a stupid woman ? How dare she be Muslim and run a business in America. She should be deported to the first cesspool of a third world country that the I.N.S can find.

Alan Greenspan is an American economist, lifelong Republican and head of the U.S. Federal Reserve from 1987 to 2006.

In his latest interview with the British newspaper the Daily Telegraph Alan Greenspan launches into a scathing attack on President George W. Bush's economic policies and laments the political correctness that will not allow U.S. politicians to admit that oil is the real reason for the war and subsequent occupation of Iraq :

"Alan Greenspan, the former head of the US Federal Reserve, has issued a withering attack on President Bush handling of the American economy.

The man credited with guiding the US through two decades of economic boom says Mr Bush and his inner circle put their political priorities ahead of the economic good of the country....

....Mr Greenspan, 81 - a lifelong Republican who served six presidents as an adviser and as Fed chairman from 1987 to 2006 - reserves his most coruscating criticism for the current occupant of the White House....

....Without elaborating, he also observes: "I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil." (Source: Daily Telegraph)

The blessed month of Ramadan is upon us once more and I wish all the Muslim readers of this weblog a happy and spiritually prosperous month.

Hardly a day goes by without some weblog or the other decrying how non-Muslims are making themselves fourth class citizens in their own countries by allowing Muslims to follow their faith. More times than not the cries of Dhimmitude are associated with cries that western civilisation is being slaughtered at the alter of Islamic sensibilities.

It seems that cultural "suicide" to ingratiate oneself to Muslims is not only a trait that western societies are good at. News is coming in from the Communist controlled region of Hong Kong where the authorities are considering plans to float an Islamic bond market:

"Hong Kong's financial secretary has ordered regulators to study how to reconcile Muslim financial rules with local laws in hopes of launching a market for Islamic bonds...

...Secretary John Tsang said he hopes to promote Hong Kong, a popular stock market for Chinese companies, as a gateway for Middle Eastern investment in China, according to transcripts from a Monday speech at a financial conference.

"Islamic finance is an important element of the global financial system," he said. "For Hong Kong to be a major international financial center — not just in the region, but globally — then Islamic finance must be among our portfolio of products and services."

Islamic finance is governed by Islamic law, or Shariah, which bans the collection of interest, trading in risk and investing in gambling, pork and alcohol businesses. All are components in virtually every global market....

...It has become increasingly difficult to ignore the financial heft of Islamic financial markets.

Tsang said the international Islamic financial market is worth $1 trillion and is expected to grow 15 percent annually.

He has said that more than 300 Islamic financial institutions in more than 75 countries hold assets of more than $300 billion. Islamic business units of international banks manage an additional $400 billion, he said.

Charles Li, a finance professor at the City University of Hong Kong, said Hong Kong authorities must be careful in balancing local financial norms and Islamic financial regulations.

"The government should study whether our laws are in conflict with Middle Eastern banking systems and laws," Li said. "We can't interpret our laws in favor of Islamic culture and practices." (Source: Associated Press)

This is yet another nail in the coffin of the anti-Islam bigots who claim that Muslims never condemn violence committed in the name of Islam.

Thousands have taken part in peace marches in Algeria denouncing suicide attacks:

"Thousands of people have taken part in peace rallies in Algeria after suicide bomb attacks in the past few days killed at least 50 people.

The biggest demonstration was in the capital, Algiers, where speakers denounced suicide attacks as being against Islam....

...The crowd, which was made up mainly of women, chanted slogans such as "Terrorists are not Muslims" and "the Algerian people reject terrorism and support President Abdelaziz Bouteflika"....

...Sunday's protest was organised by the Algerian Workers' General Union (UGTA). Prime Minister Abdelaziz Belkhadim was among the participants." (Source: BBC News)

The Israeli police have uncovered a cell of Israeli Nazis who videoed attacks they carried out on innocent bystanders:

"Israeli police have arrested eight suspected members of a neo-Nazi cell responsible for painting swastikas and assaulting religious Jews and foreign workers.

All eight are immigrants from the former Soviet Union, police said on Sunday....

..."The cell members adopted Hitler's ideology and created their own unique language which includes music, video clips, insignia, graffiti, and tattoos all depicting Nazi ideology," a police statement said.

"Members of the group would document attacks in which they beat innocent and helpless people who belonged to different minorities," read the statement.

Foreign workers, homosexuals, Orthodox Jews and drug addicts were the main victims of attacks in the Tel Aviv area in the past year.

Cell members also painted swastikas in several synagogues, along with the message that read "Death to the Jews" on a building near one of the houses of worship, the statement said." (Al-Jazeera)

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said after watching the video at cabinet meeting on Sunday that Israel had failed as a society for not being able to educated its children:

"Israel, as a society, failed in educating the youths discovered to be neo-Nazis," Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said in response to the arrest of eight Petach Tikva teenagers for membership in a neo-Nazi cell....

...A video documenting the youths' neo-Nazi activities were screened at Sunday's cabinet meeting, and the ministers were shocked by the chilling images.

"We saw the appalling documentation of violence for its own sake, suspected – and I stress, suspected – of being motivated by neo-Nazi ideology," Olmert said in a statement. "I'm sure that no one in Israel is indifferent to these scenes, which demonstrate that we as a society have failed in educating these youths and distancing them from crazy and dangerous ideologies."

....All but one of the group members are non-Jewish immigrants from the former Soviet Union, who arrived in Israel via the Law of Return. As such, the police's youth division, who uncovered the affair, referred to it as a complicated and sensitive issue.

Absorption Minister Yaakov Edri also severely condemned the suspects. "They must be punished to the full extent of the law," he said. " (Source: Ynet News)

Dennis Diehl is writer and former Christian pastor. In his latest article published at Op Ed News he asks the following question: "Can a Good Muslim Be a Good American?" Diehl then goes on to answer by comparing how being a good Christian is incompatible with being a good American.

What follows is a list of points that some American Christian wrote to prove that a Muslim cannot be a good American. I shall for the sake of brevity just record a synopsis here the full article can be accessed by the link below.

The accuser states that a good Muslim cannot be good America for the following reasons:

1. "Theologically - no. Because his allegiance is to Allah, the moon god of Arabia."
2. "Religiously - no. Because no other religion is accepted by his Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256)"
3. "Scripturally - no. Because his allegiance is to the five pillars of Islam and the Quran (Koran)."
4. "Geographically - no. Because his allegiance is to Mecca, to which he turns in prayer five times a day."
5. "Socially - no. Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews."
6. "Politically - no. Because he must submit to the mullah (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and Destruction of America, the great Satan."

Dennis Diehl then goes on to expose how a fundamentalist Christian can not be a good American in light of the 11 points above:

1. And of the Christian Fundamentalist...Theologically- NO Because his allegiance is to God, the Sun God of Egypt.
2. And of the Christian Fundamentalist...Religiously- NO Because "there is no other name under heaven, (Jesus) by which a man can be saved.
3. And of the American Fundamentalist...Scripturally NO because his allegiance is to the Ten Pillars of Christianity, which they tend to modify according to the need...
4. And of the American Fundamentalist...Geographically No because his mental allegiance is to Jerusalem, Israel and the Holy Land...
5. And of the Christian Fundamentalist...Socially NO because his allegiance to Christianity forbids him to make friends with "the world"....
6. And of the Christian Fundamentalist...Politically No because he must submit to the ministry....
7. And of the Christian Fundamentalist...Domestically no because a fundamentalist Christian is instructed to marry only one which is his property, but cannot talk in church and can only ask her husband bible questions at home....
8. And of the Christian Fundamentalist...Intellectually no, because he can't accept that the American Constitution was NOT predicated on founding fundamentalist, Old Covenant believing Fathers...
9. And of the Christian Fundamentalists...Philosophically no because Christianity, Jesus and the Bible do not allow freedom of religion if you take the Old and New Testaments as the only way to be...
10. And of the Christian Fundamentalist...Every Christian Fundamentalist government is either dictatorial or autocratic too.
11. And of the Christian Fundamentalists...Spiritually no because the God and Jesus of the Book of Revelation drowns the world in blood, plagues, signs, trumpets, vials and slaughter.
