If the answer to that question is a big NO then 41% of British Muslims agree with you, they too do not want to live under the Shariah law in the U.K. These are the results of the latest ICM poll regarding the views of the Muslim community in Britain.

Another finding is that 82 % thought it was wrong for Muslims to attack Danish embassies in Muslim countries as a result of the publication of the cartoons.

Guess what the headlines in the media said regarding this poll:

40% of Muslims want Shariah law in Britain.

Do the words prejudice and demonisation come to mind ? It appears there is concentrated effort by some to label and demonise Islam and Muslims, this is just another example of it.

For the ignorant or the gullible I just ask one thing dont always believe what you read, see or hear in the media. Sometimes there are people that only want you to see one side of the story.

This may come as an unwelcome surpise to many but not every person who is brown skinned with a beard and a turban is a Muslim. He might even be Sikh, a religion that was founded in the Punjab region of India by Guru Nanak. Granted this particular Sikh happens to be very funny although it must be added that not all Sikhs are as funny as him just as not all Muslims are as clever and good looking as me.

deeyah

Image taken from http://designermagazine.tripod.com/

This is Deeyah a part-Asian and part-Iranian singer raised in Norway who is now looking to make it in the U.S. and U.K pop-scene. They only way she could find to make her money and fame is to dance semi-naked and sing about Islam. Its funny nowadays if you want to make money or get the attention of people just say Islam more often then not you will get either one or both.
I suppose this what they call advancement! Some would say that we were better of being smelly hairy camel jockeys even though most Muslims have never been near the desert never mind a camel.

Hindu valentine

Asharq Al-Awsat and Agencies : In several cities, Hindu nationalists approached young couples and vandalized shops selling Valentine's Day cards and gifts, and restaurants that are promoting the theme.

I think that someone has made a mistake here. I am sure some of you are thinking that these people must be Muslims or should that be "Moslems" or maybe "Mohammadens" . Unfortunately to disappoint those of you that feel this way but they are a 100% the Real Deal, the Real McCoy Hindus. I don't know how anyone can be against the message of illict love and Valentine. They must have been brain washed by some nasty "Moslems".

This is a topic that is close to my heart. I thought I would share some thoughts with you regarding this matter. Please click on the link and have a read and come straight back here. Your thoughts would be appreciated. May I leave you with the words of the Bible.

"The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; the Lord our God is one Lord." (Mark 12:29)

I wrote a piece on 5th February 2006 entitled : Do You Have Any Muslim Friends ? Below is a reply by one of the people who read the piece his name is Noah Bawdy and this is what he had to say:

"As it is a violation of the Koran for any Muslim to be a friend of a non-Muslim unless the non-Muslim is converting to Islam... No. I do not have any Muslim friends. Nor would I ever want one. "

Here is a comment that I placed on the aforementioned Noah's blog:

Noah I found your blog interesting if a little biased. But I suppose that is only to be expected especially after reading your comments in my blog. I have noted your points about Islam. May I request that you also have some posts explaining the Talmudic view of the goyim and how they should be dealt with or the Christian justification of the Crusades or maybe an expose on the Catholic Church and the Spanish Inquisition. I am sure that you could deal with some of these points in your blog as well. I suggest all of this in the pursuit of fairness and a full debate of the issues surrounding world religions. May I end by saying that the English have a beautiful saying that goes something like this : "People in glass houses should not throw stones."

 Saudi Arabia

I have been thinking lately about this topic. For the most part foreigners like me know very little about the culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (which shall now on be referred to herein as K.S.A). Even for me as a Muslim but as a non -Saudi I know very little about the culture of that region.
As most are aware I know that the KSA is the homeland and birthplace of Islam. After having spoken to people that have been to the Kingdom I also know that discrimination is rife against anybody who is not Saudi. That is not something special to Saudi, people suffer discrimination in all parts of the world. Apart from these two points I know virtually nothing else about Saudi culture or life. I believe that it is the same for most Muslims around the world.
From a logical and rational perspective there must be more to the KSA than just these two things. There must be a culture and traditions that hold and bind the society together but as outsiders we have no knowledge these issues.
Another problem that I hear is that most people do not want to learn about the culture and traditions of the Kingdom as its citizens are so arrogant that its not worth the effort. I find this hard to believe purely from a statistical point of view that the whole society cannot be arrogant . There must be statistically for the sake of argument a small minority that are not. I do not think that the argument holds true.

So visitors to this blog if you can enlighten me please be my guest. I would like to know about the pro's and cons of Saudi culture.

The Independent on Sunday reports the following story :

"Afghan police rounded up scores of suspects in a series of raids across Kabul yesterday. But this time the prisoners were not Taliban insurgents or Al-Qa'ida suspects. They were Chinese women - the notorious Chinese prostitutes of Kabul."

For anyone that knows the conservative Afghan society well, it seems strange that they would tolerate this type of thing... but I suppose its a case of supply and demand!

For the first time the Austrian capital with its mayor celebrates the Islamic New Year.

Is this the way forward for other European capitals or are we seeing a flash in the pan? Do you think that Islam is over running Europe ?

Should mass immigration of Muslims be stopped forthwith and an introduction of forced deportation be started as the only way that Europe can save its values and way of life from the clear and present take over of the continent by Islam?

I would like to read your comments regarding these issues.

Throughout Europe there has in recent years been a rise in the far right. They would like to see policies like these implemented throughout the continent. But in a world that is so globalised and interdependent can we live as small tribes of ethnic white people or ethnic black people or ethnic brown people completely separate of each other ?

International travel has become so relatively easy that in about 18 hours you can be almost anywhere in the world you like. With ease of travel comes movement of people. Just as Muslims have come to the West so too have westerners been going in the opposite direction not just over the last 20-30 years but for at least 500 years. Need I retell the story of imperialism?

The sooner we realize that we are all in this together the better it will be for all us and for the future generations that come after.

Have you ever considered this question? If the answer is no, do you think that says more about you or the Muslims that have now become the whipping boys of the media ? Are there any opinions that you hold about Muslims that might not be 100% true. Could you ever say trust a Muslim say with your belongings or personal secrets for instance? Even though there are more than 1000 million Muslims on this planet there are many in this world who have absolutely no contact or knowledge about Islam and Muslims unless it is through the media. Do you consider the media in all of its fields from print to the internet to be pro-Muslim or anti-Muslim or just reflecting the reality of the Muslim. If the media can have a right wing bias or a left wing bias can it not have a bias against the Muslim faith?
These are questions that readers to this blog should ask themselves and answer truthfully. Until there is understanding of issues such as these we will continue to talk through each other and not at each other.

...Al-Jazeera News Channel is going to start broadcasting in English for the first time ever. The transmissions are due to start in the Spring of 2006.
Lets wait and see what the reaction is like. I think that they have been able to get some big names lined up such as David Frost from the BBC and others.
I am sure that it cannot be any worse than the offerings that Fox News offers to the public currently.
